Bernard “Bernie” Reffruschinni
(May 19, 1939-December 29, 2002)
MUNISING – Bernard “Bernie” Reffruschinni, age 63, of 615 Brook Street, died following a one-year illness on Sunday, December 29, 2002, at 2:56pm at the Munising Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 19, 1939, in Munising to the late Joseph and Leona (Burke) Reffruschinni and lived most of his life in the Munising area. Bernie attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and attended Wm. G. Mather High School. He entered into the U.S. Marine Corps on January 17, 1958, and served until January 16, 1964. He was a cement mason and worked construction all of his life. Bernie was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
He is survived by his two sons, Wayne Reffruschinni of Munising and James Reffruschinni of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria (Jerry) Brown of Munising and Sherrill Henrickson of Milan, MI; one brother, Alvin (Cynthia) Reffruschinni; sister-in-law, Loretta Reffruschinni of 16 Mile Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by brothers, James (Shirley) Reffruschinni and Rodney Reffruschinni; and by a nephew, Owen Reffruschinni.
Father Dennis L. Borca and Deacon James Anderson will conduct a Memorial Mass on Friday, January 3, 2003 at 11:00am. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising in the spring of 2003 when the Alger County Veterans Council will conduct military honors. Following the mass, there will be time for visiting with family and friends in the lower level of the church
