Margaret J. “Margo” Madosh Carlson
(August 23, 1947 – April 25, 2003)
HARVEY – Margaret J. “Margo” Madosh Carlson, 55, of 105 Keweenaw Trail, Harvey, entered eternal life Friday, April 25, 2003, as the result of an automobile accident. Margo was born August 23, 1947, a daughter of Peter Joseph and Helen Marie (Hocking) Madosh, Sr., and was a lifelong Marquette area resident.
She had been employed as a waitress for over ten years with the former Entre Amigos Restaurant, until its closure, and later with the Obijwa Casino II as a waitress. Margo was known for her warm smile and sociable nature. She was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. Margo was devoted to her family and greatly enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren. She also loved going to the casino and being involved in a variety of craftwork, much of which she learned from her mother, Helen. For over 20 years, Margo was an active participant in the Women’s Pool League. During the last years of their lives, Margo was the primary caregiver to her parents.
Margo is survived by her daughter, Debra M. Voet of Palmer; two sons, Daniel P. (Dawn) Alexander, Sr of Gwinn and Peter G. Carlson of Carson City; her grandchildren, Crystal and Jimmer Beaumont, Chad Voet, and Daniel Jr, Cassie, Richard, and Charlotte Alexander; two sisters, Patricia Madosh Brown and Doris Mataxagay (Edward) Doherty both of Marquette; two brothers, her “older” twin Peter (Marcy) Madosh, Jr of Marquette and James Mataxagay of Grand Rapids; aunt, Nellie LeMaire and cousin, Hazel Hulverson both of Marquette; her longtime companion and special friend, Ken Perry of Gwinn; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and numerous special friends. Margo was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Helen Madosh; an infant granddaughter, Cassie Ann Beaumont; infant twin brothers; and a brother, Edward Mataxagay. Friends may call at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 30, beginning at 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Wednesday afternoon in the church with Rev. Alexander Sample, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Margo’s escorts will be Clifford “Sonny” Brown, Gerald Doherty, Keith Ashbrook, Matthew and Michael Madosh, and Roy Peterson. A reception for family and friends will follow in the church fellowship hall. The Fassbender Funeral Home is serving the family.
